iBomber – Arcade style bomber for the iPhone & iPod Touch

iBomber is one of the most interesting games that I’ve come across on the iPhone platform. It simplicity and elegant gameplay makes it my most played game on my iPod touch. Wrote a review of iBomber here, have a look and see if you’ve got in you what it takes to be a iBomber ;-)

Ofcourse, you don’t have to buy the paid version – the lite version of the game gives a taste of what you get when you pay! The levels that come with the pay version are pretty cool and will keep you occupied for quiet a while. I find myself iBombing waiting for a tram or at my neighborhood McCafé.

Samsung LE 23 R 32 B review

I was planning for a HD television, ever since i saw quality difference it could make when you connect a gaming console to it! I need not stress the fact that these don’t come cheap, too bad students like me could only dream ;-) But then i came across the Samsung LE 23R32 B.Its a 23 inch HD-Ready TV.Remember that “HD-Ready” does not mean that it can play all the HD resolutions. It is capable of playing some HD resolutions – it is not full HD! But this is the closest you would ever come to a reasonable quality HD-ready TV at a competitive price. The LE23R32B retails for a around 400 euros!!

Samsung LE23RB32

HDMI™ with HDCP, 2x Scart ports AV-1 (FBAS, S-Video, RGB), AV-2 (FBAS, S-Video), DVI,1 x FBAS
- 1 x S-Video
- 1 x headphones jack
- 1 x Antenna jack

Component Input (Y/Pb/Pr, L/R)

Supported Resolutions:

  • Widescreen 16:9
  • WXGA (1366 x 768)

SRS Tru Surround XT, 5 Sound Modes (Standard, Music, Movie, Speech, Userdefined), Graphic Equalizer (5 channels), RMS 2 x 3 Watt, Automatic volume adjust

If i could throw in a line about the advantages apart from the price ofcourse, the picture quality is good, wide variety of inputs supported, doubles up as a monitor for your computer. As for the disadvantages, well the size ofcourse 23 inches is big but aint big enough for a HDTV (ofcourse the price justifies this factor!) and the volume output from the TV is suprisingly low (again not a problem if you have your own set of 5.1 speakers ;-)

So if your looking for worthy but cheap gaming experience from your console, i recommend this.

Update:

I also would like to mention that this TV does not have any output features, meaning there is no way to output audio/video from the TV to any another device. On a related note, recieved some queries as to whether the HDMI port can be used to connect computer output. No you cannot use this HDMI port to connect your computer e.g. using a DVI to HDMI cable to output from a mac to the TV.

Parallels Compatible Gaming

Parallels

I just updated my parallels installation to try out some games. As my previous post trying to compile a list of games compatible to the Intel 945/950 gml motherboard is hot, i would like to follow it up with a compilation of games that run well on parallels emulation. The initial list on the Parallels site is encouraging, but i would still like to see more.It is a bit limiting when considering that Parallels is compatible with only DirectX 8.1 games so would have problems with most new games.Yet i am sure after reading the comments on my previous post that there’s more than what meets the eye.So people if you have a game working fine on Parallels please feel free to add it in the comments – would be very helpful for avid gamers who are on a Mac ;-) (what an oxymoron that was..!)

List of games that Parallels says is completely compatible :
